Leather Bonded Furniture and Home Accessories
A leather craftsman for over four decades, Chris Chapman has spent much of her career involved in historical research and reproduction work dating back to 16th century European leatherwork clothing and artifacts. In the early 70's she created museum quality reproductions of Native American and Early American garments and artifacts, including bead and quill work.
The birth of her daughter in 1991 inspired a monumental change of direction in her work. She invented many new techniques in leatherwork and began creating leather-bonded furniture that is now recognized the world over. Her work graces homes and lodges from Montana to Dubai.
Chris' work is the gold standard for custom architectural leather work. Often imitated, nothing compares to what she can create --from enormous armoires, tables and beds, to built-in bars, cabinetry, and leather braided hand rail.
Chapman's work brings a fresh perspective to the medium, which she finds incredibly versatile in that it can adapt to nearly any time period, style and design: from classic Western and Spanish Territorial, to Old English, Black Forest, Victorian and Contemporary.
Chris lives in the Colorado Rocky Mountains with her amazing daughter, dogs, horses, and a very cool cat. Among her many accomplishments, she has just become a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Her studio is open by appointment only.
