A wonderful, fully wrapped leather box, suitable for a special collection. It has a Japanese-y, Aarts & Crafts-y, Queen Anne-y influence, and is embellished with a high reliev Whooping Crane scene on the front doors, inspired by a true event. The raised, hand shaped lid, is wrapped in one piece of leather, crowned at the top with a 3 1/2 European style Sterling Concho, and is lines with antique silver leafing. The modified Queen Anne "crane-foot" legs, (hand carved under a full leather wrap), have amazing dettail. the interior cabinet is solid walnut, with dovetail joinery. The suede lined doors and drawers are designed to be used for jewelry or a special collection of items. The side openings currently have pull out, suede covered tubes for necklaces, if that is what you chooose to use it for, or this walnut box rests in a top gallery, and is adorned with a tooled, inlaid leather top and interior mirror in the lid. The interior of this separate box can be modified for rings or a unique display purpose. The whole piece can sit on a low dresser, a custom height counter in a library or use your imagingation. This is one of the prettiest things I've ever made. |
